Low Mileage Cup - Where best to sell?

  Clio rs200
bad time of year, poor spec, be surprised if it makes more than 12k. (probably completely wrong) will watch with interest.

Why do you consider this car to be poor spec? only 3 options available on a cup - this has the air con and recaro seats and in the second most ordered colour.

Really depends if anybody wants one thats in exceptional condition and with very low mileage, its just clean passed its first ever MOT this week.

Its had tyres, belts, dephaser, brakes all round, full full service, headlights, paintwork correction - so its in very nice condition.

There are few unmolested cars about with such low mileage, so we will see what its worth and if its less then I feel its worth then it wont be sold but kept.

I think it's considered poor spec as it is a cup basically.

RB is a nice colour but it’s really a 182 colour in my mind.

However the mileage is what does it for me and thats where the value is along with the factory recaros imo.

If i had the space at home i’d be considering bidding tbh.

So when does the auction start? Is it two weeks after the advert went up or can you choose an exact date?

  Clio rs200
Tomorrow, was supposed to be today as it was pending the car being MOT'd.

Some interesting Renaults on the site a Clio Trophy 500/500 went live today and they've a 5 Turbo and a Williams Renault F1 car also.

I’d certainly love to own it, RB is one of the best colours on a 200 and I’d see the fact it’s got an actual key as a bonus (I have a 200 with keycard) the fact it has air con and recaros… what’s not to like.

Only downside I see is the location, engine bay looks pretty furry for the mileage so my concern would be whether it’s like that everywhere else having lived in scotland.

it’s not lived in Scotland, it’s been in Germany then Wales. Under bonnet simply hadn’t been touched since new, various threads suggesting it’s common.

Any that look as new after 13-14 years will have had work.

I’ve had a quote from a specialist to ice blast the engine bay -

Or this guy does a great job

if it doesn’t sell I‘ll probably keep car and get the latter done, however it’s been suggested it needs to be lacquered or painted or it’ll be similar after a year.

Just saw that advert on CC. Nice Car no doubt.

tbh I had not twigged that it had Zero History till I read the description. Used then Parked up. No MOT or Service till this year.

If It does not sell for what you want I would keep it for a year and put a couple of Thousand miles on it & get it serviced & MOT'd next year by a reputable RS Specialist. That will add to its value in my eyes and not detract.

Best of Luck.

Thank you, that’s good advice, if it doesn’t sell then that’s pretty much the plan, use it lightly, get it serviced annually at the big Renault garage near us. Get the engine parts blasted.

There is a reserve, will see how it does in the next 2 days. Somebody questioning why the pedals are worn out - clearly they didnt realise that the pedals are alloy as opposed to rubber.

@Bennno1 I hope you don't mind, but this car interests me, can I just ask what conditions/environment the car has been stored in please? Cheers. Ed.
It was stored by the original owner in a parents garage whilst she was deployed overseas, the loss of this garage forced its sale and since I’ve had it it’s been in the garage. it was mot’d yesterday and pictures on Auction site, including best attempt at underside.

I got pretty invested in watching this.

Not sure if its because I want to see if the OP beat the trade value of £13.5k he had from a dealer?

Let the market decide!

Looks like this is going to romp past the trade bid of £13500 - it’s now sitting at £13250 with 12hrs to go - £14200 with fees added.

Still shows good / different / low mileage cars are still attracting buyers to pay good money even in tough market -

Good luck later today 👍🏻

Thanks for the good luck, positive that its got a decent enough value to be sold, negative my wife's earmarked the sale funds for a new bathroom.

Its a very nice thing, in great condition and I think it'd be a challenge to go out and find one anywhere with similar mileage.

Oddly there were only 420ish of the factory cup cars sold in the UK, of those only 300 odd remain and I suspect a lot of those have been modified. So they are quite a rare beast - oddly the stripped back nature which made them less common new, potentially makes them interesting now. Who knows.

Same 2 bidder's from £8700 to £13500.

Just shows you need 2 people to want something badly to get you anyplace.

If any of them is reading this thread the trade valuation of £13500 no doubt gives some confidence.

Best of Luck.

Bad luck on not getting it, I’ll let you know if there’s any issue with the winner paying and collecting. Was good value at that given how much recommission work it required and the condition of the bodywork following correction.

My advice would be to be aware that a cambelt and dephaser change with pump and aux belts will be £700 ish, servicing isn’t complex but can be expensive. Rear disks quite pricy as they include the wheel bearing. Gearboxes can present issues on 3rd and 4th gears. Although compared to your other cars etc.

Gordini oddly is not all that sought after…..

Hi gents - first time poster here- congratulations to the buyer. I was the opposing buyer but maxed out at £13250 plus 7.2% etc.

It looks a lovely car and hope the new owner enjoys.

Looking for a 200 cup - are the Gordini versions decent?

Thanks

As said above it was only you and one other in the bidding.

So you did the OP a favour by getting the price up to a point he was willing to sell. I noted a 'No Reserve' box appeared near the end of the bidding. And no last minute surge in bids which is unusual.

Gordini & 200 Cup opposites. One has no frills & one is frilly.

Welcome.

Remarkably accurate as it turns out, winning bidder has supposedly paid the collecting cars fees but has then gone incommunicado! I’ve been given a UAE mobile number for a winning bidder supposedly residing in Belfast, referred it back to CC For their direction.

Shocking. You just assume it will all go through. At least old school when someone rocked up to view a car you could size them up.

Hope you get sorted.

So potentially CC get their cut and you end up having to sell the car again if the buyer doesn't materialise? Wow.

CC are just an intermediary.

When i bought a car off CC you immediately pay the fees then you get all contact details for the seller so you can yourselves work out how to collect/make payment

Thats 100% my understanding, although they somehow sold my GR Yaris back in Jan 2020 to a chinese bidder who must have been mad to pay 6% of 32k and then not make any contact whatsoever. Now supposedly with the rates at 7.2% somebody has paid them £950 to win the car, only to then ignore all subsequent communications. Frustrating isn't the word, Im starting to question the integrity of their operations.

Yeah, as a buyer the fees just get taken automatically off your registered card at the end of the successful bidding.

On the one hand it means they always get their cut, on the other it means a shonky bidder can't just walk away without taking some sort of hit (unless they're using a stolen card) so it reduces the number of nuggets on the platform. At the end of the day just have relist it or sell it elsewhere.

Stolen card. Never thought of that. What fun people have at others expense.

It was a two horse race. Who knows where the price would have ended without this bidder. Makes you wonder how many bidders are pushing up the price for 'fun'. If he had stopped one bid early other chap above would have got it. Either way there is a victim. In this case the seller. In the other a genuine buyer who potentially pays inflated price.

Guess can just re auction. Although does not seem to be as many 'live auctions' or 'coming soon'. Maybe its a time of year thing or market slowing.

The losing bidder is on here so maybe all is not lost.

Remember the OP got offered £13k trade. For the difference/hassle level I would just be taking that.

To me the Auction end point is not really valid as the price was driven up by another bidder with no intention to buy.

Hmm, they offered £13k trade and were chasing me, so i'd assume they did want it and that they'd be advertising it at 50-100% more than that.

Its got provenance in terms of military sale record, copies of associated paperwork, signed sale contract from only prior owner confirming no damage since new, mileage correct, confirmation paperwork from Renault uk, nova paperwork with dvla to register it, plus full photographic record of recommissioning - e.g. original 2009 tyres, old brake discs and pads unworn etc etc. Plus all the bills for cambelt, dephaser, major service, inc plugs, filters, wipers etc etc

But I agree some would rather a car thats been used year round and serviced annually at Renault, although it'd then have more mileage on.
