I just bought the Sony Harddisk camcorder SR50. I am not overly impressed with the quality of the video but it is passable and very easy/ quick to put onto the PC for editing etc.

DV cameras are supposed to be the best quality but it takes a long time to transfer the video onto a PC if you are going to edit footage (apparently).

DVD cameras are supposed to suffer from the lower quality as the Harddisk cameras compared to DV but have never seen something to compare.

The difference between HD (High Def) vs standard is huge though. If i had the extra cash I definately would have gone down that route.

As with all tape devices, its takes as long as the clip you have filmed to transfer it onto your PC (eg. does it in realtime)

DVD Camera's are gay.. and yes that is my professional opinion.

It is a big difference, but dont confuse proper HD camera's with the ones that record HD to DV etc.

i agree the picture difference is huge but if your just watching it on a crt then its not really worth it at the current prices for hd cameras from what i have seen but same as everything they will come down !

also i can pic the camera up in the states so that should go someway to making it cheaper id hope :)
