has it broken? why would you want to change it if not?
yup, Over the past few months frequently the car just wouldnt start, for example.. dropping the kids of at school it would be fine, come back to the car to drive to work it wouldnt start, regardless weather the engine was hot or cold, then after a number of attempts and looking like a clown for 10 minutes it would start and off we go again but this happens totally intermittent and random when it wants to.
Finally Last week it decided to cut out while driving on the missus while she was on the shopping trip ( i dont think the starting problem and this final cut out are related personally) and we have no history of the engine, now the starter motor wizzes fast like there is no compression and it wont bump. Instead of paying a Mechanic to diagnose/resolve the issue i am prepared to stick another engine with lower milage in there as they are cheap enough, The missus has lost faith with the current engine and its also done over 100,000 miles.
The engine has Good spark plugs in there, The HT leads are delivering good strong spark and there is fuel!
I just dont have a compression tester to hand, and i dont see the point spending money or for a mechanic to charge me £80 to diagnose it if i can just get a lower milage replacement engine for 200quid or so.
Unless its a Sensor or something thats stopping it starting.. But i would still need to pay a mechanic to use the diagnostic machine, but the missus wont want to hear that, she wants to hear the words "ive put another engine in" come out of my mouth as she is adament that even if we fix this issue.. The Intermittent starting will still be there...
shes just lost faith with this 100,000 mile engine (Replace the car Or replace the engine) Thats what shes looking for... and im looking for the Cheapest option as im the one paying lol. So things are pointing towards replacement engine, Keeping things hastle free as possible, Buy another engine and use the current one for Spares for the new one.
