Yeah you can, you dont have xenon units so its not advised, the beam scatters because its not ment for the halogen units and can blind other drivers, however a lot of people do use HIDs...
I think HIDs are also part of the MOT test now and will fail if you have them without the correct xenon units, i read that a while ago though...
Whatever fitment the dipped beam bulb is, if you get a kit for it it should fit, but again i wouldn't advise.
Osram Nghtbreakers. Done. Definitely do not fit HID into those lamps. Firstly it will look rubbish, and secondly they will dazzle oncoming drivers. Half the charvers on here will say they don't. They do though. Don't see why the 197 xenon lamps wouldn't work though. Only viable option really?
Philips blue vision side bulbs are good too ebay/search those if your side bulbs are 501 fitment, still orange, not LED, but match the night breakers well...
H1 for dipped? thats what came up when i searched for your model of car a while back... thought it would have been H7...
