Can you do that at 60mph???

Hi All,

It has been a while since I drove the Wife's Cup and even longer since I posted!! We were supposed to have sold the car last year but I was persuaded otherwise (not too difficult I might add) to keep the car as the wife got her company car.
I write now for two reasons one being I took the Cup to work today and whoooo!! What a great car the RS clio is ( 172, Cup, 182, Trophy, for arguments sake oh and the V6 rubbish (joke)) but my fun was restricted by idiots driving so close behind I thought they wanted to a-hole fcuk me!!!(I don't remeber this being a big prob but memories diminish, do other people feel the same and get this and how do you react??) something I don't miss even from one of the best pound for pound cars since the Williams!!
I want to say though that I thrashed the cash out of the car (safley) and loved it!!
My 2nd point and question is; if you had 23k to spend on a car what would it be and why, I seem to be going round and round, do I get a TVR or a BMW M3 or V6 Clio or something else. Please help guys and gals 'you are my only hope' and normaly very good info. Is it 2 cars etc cheap one and another TVR just in case or something else. Sorry if this in the wrong section been back in the country a few days if rules change etc etc!!

G

love the the Trophy

All of those are good cars but the V6 is probably the rarest and will get the most looks ;) as well as being one of the most satisfying to drive if the magazines and clarkson are to be believed

I am after a def blend of looks, style and power; forgive me but I don't think the V6 quiet gives that in the power stakes (although def in all others), I want power with style but am yet to be convinced about the V6's power but not about their cracking looks or rariety!!

i'd personally think about a Honda S2000 if it was me with the money to spend!?
got the looks, style and definitely the power...lovely cars

if it was out of the cars you have said it'll be a newer shape black Clio v6 with the silver/grey side vents!!!?
but you are right about the power..not that special!! had a bit of a play with one in my mates civic TypeR and was sat on it's arse...was expecting alot more tbh!!!

good luck choosing :)

How about a 350Z or the 350Z anniversary model? Both excellent cars with a great sounding engine and very lively performance. Fits very nicely into your price band too. Got a nice look about them.

If I had £23k to spend I would use £3k on a cheap tin top then spend the remaining £20k on a Caterham R400. In my eyes the ultimate drivers car, also 0-60mph in 3.8 secs, 0-100mph in about 9 secs and 140mph.

TVR Tuscan... mmmmm
£25k gets you a X/Y reg with less than £15k on the clock, if you shop around...

Less than 15k on the clock is easy for a car that will spend most of its life on the hard shoulder or in a workshop. And thats before we consider the fact you'd be safer crashing in a wet cardboard box at speeds over 30mph.

You'd have to be very brave to buy a TVR, I would never have the bottle to trust one. The M3 is very capable but possibly a bit dull?? I'm a numpty when it comes to Porsches, I can't stand the new ones but the mid nineties ones are very nice, but were out of budget.

That left the V6. Had it just over a month and am really enjoying it. Definately something a bit different and in the real world a car that does sub 6 seconds to 60 and 150mph isn't that slow.

Have you thought of a 111R/Exige?

Id get the M3 out of the list you said

would quite like a 2.0 turbo though like a megane 225 or even a MK4 Astra GSi in that nice blue colour :) could save some pennys that way

M3 (old skool E30 Evo!!), forget the TVR, garbage in my eyes!

for me, i would be looking at EVO's, or a scooby Spec C from litchfield!

if its sporty and small, the Elise would be a good chocie!

Not much heavier? 300kg...and only 228bhp...not much torque either.

Maybe you should have tried harder? ;)

1380kg and 231ps so ok 228 bhp i stand corrected. 211Nm of torque compared to the 182 having 200Nm but they have a 9000rpm redline!

he never got past me but he caught me no problem, they're quick and they handle.

165bhp / ton in the rx8
161bhp / ton in the 182

I was kinda shocked how quick he caught me lol Im not that bad :(
