Can't connect to tinterweb with PS3

  Golf R soon...
You do have a wireless router I take it?

All you should have to do is let the ps3 search for wireless networks and simply select yours, job done :rasp:

If you are using wireless try connecting the PS3 with Ethernet to see if it make s a difference.

Hi guys and thanks for the responses so far

yep am using a wireless router, it finds this no problem and I put in security code which works

I then select easy setup over custom setup. However the 'standard' option for ISP detection is manual which seems a bit odd. I then select automatic and it can't detect ISP!!!

Thoughts? TIA

Hi brazo,

Soz lets get upto speed

Y dont you just use the manual settup mate?.

to find what your ip is using your pc, then manually enter it do the following...
Click 'RUN' icon in start, type cmd, then in the dos box type in ipconfig and hit enter, will then come up with default ip.

As I don't know the settings, I can get the first 4 numbers but it asks for all sorts of details which I don't know the answer too! i am kind of interested in the thread below this one as they guy had the same issue"!

Sort of worked! IP address was found but during the test a DNS error occoured and connection failed!

Update

Well finally connected!

Did much research into this and if you google 'ps3 wireless problems' you will see its not an uncommon problem.

It seems the fault lies squarely with the Sony hardware which can have difficulties interpretting the WEP encryyption. Once this was turned off the PS3 was able to automatically pick up the IP address and the process was quickly completed. However upon the test, still NO luck with connecting!!!!

I upgraded the firmware on my router which made no difference. I then however brought the router much closer to the PS3 station and it then started to work. Apparently the wireless data transfer can suffer from lost packets and it needs a high strength connection.
