cant get labmda sensour out of cat

  monaco 172
just fitting my decat pipe and got it on ok. however im finding it impossible to remove the old lambda sensor from the cat.

will the car run if i just dont plug it in?
my decat pipe doesnt have a lambda hole anyway so was planning on tying it up.

it will run but ok but it will put the ems light on on ur dash.
i have a cat in my shed with one still stuk in, i just bought a new one and left the old one in the cat.

i didnt try really, spent about 2 mins on it then thought 'this is gunna snap' so just left it on and got a new one. (£108 from Renault)
also got a de-cat sat here aswell doing nothing. i didnt like the de cat, too loud so i got a sports cat, miles better.

should have removed it when it was on the car with it up to temp. got a vice and blowlamp? oh the joys of being a plumber :)
tried soaking it in wd40 and then getting any kind of heat on it?

wd40 leave for 10 minutes

22mm spanner IIRC hit the end of the spanner with a hammer hard.

soaked it in wd40 for ages and still no joy lol. ive got a wood vice haha did me no joy lol.

spoke to btm and they just said dont bother because the rear lambda does naff all anyway and as my decat doesnt have a hole in it anyway its be pointless just buying one to hand above the exhaust.

You'll be fine without it. If the emissions light comes on, just get a code reader for around £20 and turn the light off yourself.

light came on within 10 minutes of thrashing lol. ive got a code reader that can erase it, but not much point really if its just gonna come back on.

i only wanted to do it as i though the rear needed to be plugged in but btm cleared that up for me so ber8 lol.

also i noticed when i took off the cat that there was no gasget there between the cat and manifold, i made my own with a giant dollop of black high temp silicon to put me on till i get my cat fitting kit from nw performance. its not blowing so seems ok for now.

That's odd, without the gasget wouldn't the two pipes just rattle around in there?

Borrow a proper Lambda socket and spray some WD on the lambda before you try and remove it. Did both of mine the other day, they almost fell out.

there should be a large metal ring...

...it was probably still on the manifold, do you remember it being on there?

no silicon should be put on that joint.

cant remember seeing anything like that it all just felt like metal. its not rattling or anything so duno lol. im gona order that from nwp anyway just to be sure.

also final question, im gona change my coil pack and front lambda soon as it feels very spluttery below 3000 revs, it did this before the deat aswel so dont think its that. plugs have been changed for official ngks aswel.

is the front lambda impossible to remove aswel?

I chopped the cable, got a 22mm ring spanner around it, then used an extra piece of box section to get more leverage.
