can't reset miles, still getting bad mpg!

I can't reset to miles done/mpg on screen, tried holding the button on the stalk in but doesn't work if anyone knows how to do it/why its not working? And my mpg now gone down from 29.6 to 29.1 on a 1.2 if anyone has any ideas? Thankyou!

Have you held the stalk button down so the dials go all crazy then push the trip reset button ???

You need to select which screen you want to reset and press the button on the screen to zero. If you zero the mileage on the first trip meter screen and the fuel used then it will zero all the screens except for the total mileage which remains.
If you hold the button on the stalk while you turn the ignition on and then scroll through the different modes using the stalk button that will tell you how much fuel is in the tank and check all the instrument functions and check oil level. To come out of that turn the ignition off again and the clocks will go back to normal function.
