can't sync keyfob to car - Clio 2

Hi people, i yesterday became the owner of a Clio 2001 mk2 i believe, been a few years since ive owned a clio.I would like to lock/unlock the car from the fob, i have 2 fobs and put new batteries in both, red light flickers when the button on the fob is pressed.But it don't lock or unlock the car, ive searched the net and found the solution of holding the button to lock all inside the car and when the immobiliser lights stays on to press the keyfob but absolutley zilch.it wont sync, any other ideas?

You need to get the remotes tested. Just because the led is lighting up, dowsn't mean the remote is putting out a signal.

If they are putting out a signal then it may be your central locking receiver or wiring at fault.

Thanks for the reply, how do I test them? Do I need to take them to Renault?

No, get an RF Remote tester.

I had same problem last weekend mate after having a dead battery replaced. I tried everything and it wouldn't work. Then as a last hope I disconnected the battery and reconnected it after 5 minutes then bingo key fob worked!? Worth a shot.

Interesting because I have just bought the car and the battery was dead when I picked it up, we had to jump start it.might try that, thanks
