Car accelerating by itself! HELP ! christine style

  80MPG BEEZA
i recently put my 182 manifold and decat on and i have the manifold lambda in but the 2nd is dc'd and bolted closed,

the first few days sometimes when i started the car it blipped itself upto 3k which i though "fair enough it needs mapping"
late on an afternoon i gave it a quick blast back from a 20 min drive as i was approaching a hill i put the car into 4th and dabbed the accelerator as i was about to go througha schicane, The car felt like it pulled by itself upto 3k but i thought nah must just be me

Yesterday i had some kn*b right up behind me so i put my foot down on the last road before my turn in and the car felt like it was either 1.juddering 2.losing traction.

so i dropped the gf off and gave it a blast up the road as i dipped the clutch in it blipped itself twice upto almost 5k!

i left any trials till today, i set off 10 mins early for work and let it warm up and took it down a long stretch of road (i check my engine mounts all were tight no play) i accelerted full throttle upto **mph then slowed down and did it again and it seemed sound,

i slowed down for the next roundabout and dropped into 3rd around 2k rpm i just touched the go pedal when exiting the roundabout and it was off accelerated by itself upto 5k i was papping every gear if i touch it just slightly it was pulling by itself, i got to works car park and when i dipped the clutch it was revving to 5k and back to idle by itself i managed to park it up

last break i went out turned it over it blipped to 4 n a half then settled at 1k and didnt budge i let it warm up for 15 mins then turned it off, left work it hit 4k when i started it, but exiting the car park it started to pull, i put it in 2nd and let it pull it took me to 3 n a half then let go and let me have control it wud let the revs die backdown and let me build them gradually up but if i just clipped the throttle it took off by itself

i need held and advice please, its scarey as i dont want it to do it whilst going round a corner or junction

i was thinking reset the ecu and clean the TB, where is the idle control valve? could this be linked? or can i lie all this mental behaviour on just needing to be mapped?

You still got a cable throttle? Check the cable hasn't frayed and is sticking in the pipe.

right i know the TB is held on by 4 bolts what part of the construction of the TB should i be looking at? and what can i do to try and fix it? is the idle control valve in the TB?

I had a very similar problem when my tdc sensor was faulty mate, had it replaced and it was fine after.

be sure to check that out

I know someone who had a similar problem, on a 1.2 though. This turned out to be the oxygen sensor (not sure whether this applies to yours) but it was changed at the dealers at a cost of around £150!

so once i take it off (4 colts) is there anyway to take anything apart?,
the plug that goes into the back is this a sensor? or just a signal transmitter e.g me putting my foot down?

oh yea edde and there was the whole thing about the servo pipe not being connected! and on the travel back from fcs the revs were going up and down between 1k and 3k like a yoyo when the clutch was down

mine did something similar when i first bought my cup my throttle would just go WOT for no reason at random times turned out to be the throttle potentiometer, replaced under warranty.

right cracked on this morning before i go to work

clean the tdc sensor

cleaned the throttle body

clean o2 sensor

cleaned a sensor i have no idea what it is!

reset ecu

as i was putting the car back together i notcied all the bolts along the front of the top manifold were barely hanging on the top manifold was totally loose! how i didnt notice this when i took the throttlebody off i dont know, think the cover must have been holding it down to some degree, could this be the cause?

  80MPG BEEZA
oh yea started it up and it didnt rev right up went to 2 k and came back down to idle at 1k blipped throttle and it just went up and down the amount i made it not what it wanted to

sniffles - i think christine's gone :(

Yep thats the problem then the engine was revving up since it was detecting a huge leak into the engine so to preevnt lean running it was upping the fuel to maintain idle. It was as if you were leaving your foot on the throttle.

East cheap fix there your lucky.

Very lucky! :) Who fitted the manifold? ;)

just a local garage i use i know both the lads well and it was the not so talented one who was boasting he did all the work so im gonna go down next week and tell him how good he is and how i could have crashed my car into something! the bloom, least i dont have to fork out £300 for a remap as the car can hold on till i get something else done
