Car detailer recommendations in London and Essex please + what's the going rate these days?

  BG 182 FF
My BG 182 is in need of some tlc as cosmetically she's definitely showing her 15 years, plenty of scuffs and swirls on show and it would be nice to see those gold flecks this summer.

Ideally, I'd buy all the tools and products myself and get amongst it but living in a flat in a busy part of London makes it a difficult task to do.

I'm no expert on car detailing and the only person I am aware of is Richard Tipper. He charges £650, I was astonished by his quote but when I looked at half dozen other businesses they all seem to be between £350-£1250. Crikey!!

Are these the going rates for car detailing? About quarter of the value of a 15 year old clio?
Yep, it's clear I'm well out of the loop and have rarely paid over £20 for a car wash but I'm happy to spend considerably more to get the car looking presentable.

Recommendations on car detailers based in and around London (preferably north of the Thames or even Essex) would be much appreciated.

Many thanks and Happy Easter!

A proper detail, quite rightly, costs £1,000+. The volume of work involved is mind blowing, before you even start on ability and skill set.

if you don’t want to spend that much, maybe ask in here for someone local that does it as a hobby. The results won’t be the same but you get a cheap deal, hobby man earns a couple of quid and gains some experience.

Thanks Daniel, I was watching some YT clips earlier and I certainly appreciate the work involved.

I'd like to find someone very good with the skills to get the car looking extremely tidy. I'll then invest in a pressure washer, products etc for me to use when I finally escape London.

Hi Mark...there is a huge range of variation in the services provided by detailers, from a simple wash and seal to full-blown 100% correction and ceramic coating.

Even a minor single-stage correction will be a million miles better than what you have now and will come in less than £500.

Give Marco at Lussivo in Harlow a ring and mention my name (Stephen with the R26.R) - he can talk you through options and find something to suit your budget. Another detailer I’ve not used personally but heard good things about is Adam at Refined Details, although he’s in Bucks so a bit further from you. https://www.refineddetails.co.uk/services/

Hello Stephen, hope you're keeping well.

Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look at both companies and see what they advise. I don't mind travelling, preferably on our side of London.

Whats the going rate for paint correction and a ceramic coat?

Whats the going rate for paint correction and a ceramic coat?
Massively depends on the size of the car, level of paint correction required, ceramic coating chosen etc...
Id be surprised if you can find anyone decent that will do a single stage correction and coat for under £300. And that's assuming its on a small car like a Clio in decent nick bar a few swirls here and there, the coating certainly wont be the highest grade either.
