Car hesitating when cold

  BMW 320d SE
When my 182 is cold, I'll be driving along at speed, then the car will just stop accelerating. If I push the loud pedal, nothing happens - it actually starts slowing down! It doesn't seem to matter if I down change to 4th.
The problem does eventually go away, but as it normally happens on fast roads, random slowing down is less than ideal.

Any ideas what might be going on here?

Turned out to be a faulty lamdba sensor with mine, i left mine 8 months tho as it was really on and off, could go weeks without happening.

My Mk1 16v did this. Also had a really really awful idle until 100% warm

Changed the Lambda for a top quality NKG one
got more power, flawless tickover, more response, and no cut out or "Lag" or whatever you wanna call it

Yeah that sounds like mine. It hasn't happened for months, and then it's done it twice in a row!
