Car Start Problem

Hi, I've got a problem when I start the engine on my 1.4 16v Dynamique +, I'm novice to car engines, so was wondering if anyone had an idae on what this problem is.

This only happens everynow and then, unpredictable. i.e it happens at 12am when its not cold and later at 8pm when it is cold.

I start up the engine and stationary the enginge sound normal, when I pull away the enginge chuggs and chuggs and coughs and spitters but still goes until I get it into second at which point it cuts out completely. I've no idead what its doing.

I've tryed running the engine and watching the rev counter for a bit and it tends to go from 1000revs to 1500revs then down to 500revs and back up and continues this cycle, I've never noticed this with anything else I've drove befor.

Does anyone have any ideas on the problem?

any warning lights on? does the car still have the same power?

No warning lights at all, Car seems normal when the problem doesnt arise.
