Car won't start help guys....

Alreeeeet peeps just want to rack your brains really,

The misses went to go out in the 172 this morning and it wouldn't start....she would turn the key and then just hear one click noise?
She got the neighbour to jump start the car and it started up straight away..

She then dropped the Bab of to nursery and again the car wouldn't start even with a jump,

My intitial thought was battery??

Im working away so havnt been able to see the car myself, she has tried to start it again since and theres nothing atall now not even the click noise the normal dash lights come on as they should,

What do you guys think it could be am I looking at a new battery or is there any other common faults I may be looking at?

Im hoping it is as its a easy fix and will only set me back £50 notes,
Could it be the starter?

Ive known it not turn over straight away the very odd time,

Just a guess but I'd say either Battery, poor battery connection(s), broken earth or starter solenoid control wire corroded.

Well it's not the battery so I'm looking for a loose cable to starter or loose earth?

Earth strap on gearbox could be broken or loose!!

I have had a similair problem when it was my immobiliser

Symtpoms are

1. Slot key in fast and turn, swing and stop
2. Slot key in at usual pace and then turn, nada ( just a click )
3. Check your immobiliser, if it's flashing after about 3 seconds while the key is in, thats your fault!
