Carbon wrapping..

Hey everyone.
So heres my situation.. i managed to crash my car a while ago and have repaired but the bonnet i bought wasnt the right colour and is only in a black primer. I've been given a price of £90 to spray it silver ALTHOUGH saying that the black has grown on me alot and i think i prefer it black now.
What im wondering is, ive seen these sheets of carbon wrap on ebay for like a tenner... would it be possible to do that myself? How would i do it? Would it look good? (pic of my car is on profile) Tell me what you think guys, your opinion means alot :)!
Reasoning behind doing it is because i dont want to leave it in primer really.
Thanks, Ollie

You could do it yourself if you took your time and did some research etc however IMO its going to look s**t either because you buggered it up, or even if you done a perfect job it will still look crap! This is just my opinion of course but if I was in your shoes I would just get it sprayed :)

If it isn't going to cost you much, have a go. I did my stripes on my RB, everyone said eurgh don't, you'll f**k it up. I took my time and they looked good. I only got rid because I decided the look itself wasn't for me.

Have a go, if nothing else for the experience, always better to regret doing something than regret not doing something.

carbon wrap would look good if you did the full car but... itd be even more difficult than a normal wrap as youre going to have the added problem of keeping the pattern undistorted. wich is quite difficult on your own.

id go for a matt black wrap on the whole car and carbon on flat areas like the bonnet and roof.

as an example i did my wing mirrors not too long ago, one came out with a decent pattern but stuck to itself and had a few waves around the edge. the other one was wrapped perfectly but the patters was distorted so it looked gash.

take your time and have a helper with a hair dryer/heat gun to help.

It's a shame really because I do like it the colour it is now - I'd be happy to leave it but I've been told by a few people that it's a bad idea to leave it just in primer due to weather and stuff buggering it up. My other idea was get some see through wrap (if not carbon) and put that over it? Yet again though, unsure. Kinda wish I knew what it'd look like carbon before I attempt it tbh as it could end up looking crap :/

Why not have a go at spraying it yourself in a matt finish, this way it'll be protected against the elements and you'll keep the colour you want?

Tbh with you, I'd be absolutely useless at spraying. Havnt attempted before but I know I will mess it up lol. Want to do my badges and wheels aswell but will probably never get round to doing them -.- wouldn't know where to start

I think carbon wrap looks good in large areas :) thought about doing my bonnet too :)

Yeah I agree, and as said above it is a shame. I also think it'd look a bit silly on a 1.2, it was just a thought of something to do as I need to do something with my bonnet! Il think up something else

Because its only in a black primer and is beginning to fade like mad. It costs £90 to get it professionally sprayed but the black has grown on me now so kinda want to keep it black. That's why the carbon wrap came to mind :)

It'd cost £50+ to get it wrapped, save an extra week and get it sprayed the correct colour or black.

Yeah but on the flip side £90 to spray it the wrong colour seems a bit mad. That would suggest doing it silver.. But idk. Tight for money anyway ATM so could attempt spraying myself black maybe? Have to see what happens
