I am looking at buying a car which has a Cat-1 Thatchem approved alarm fitted and I was just wondering how much I could expect to save on my insurance with this? Quotes without the alarm are in the region of £950 for 10 months TPFT.
Mine didn't go down a penny, which was really annoying as i spent 200 quid more for it to be CAT1 approved, and there's only a couple of slight differences between the CAT1 and non-CAT1 systems.
Most places I rung just cared if it had an alarm/immobiliser.. not the thatcham rating.
I had a CAT1 on my 1.2 - didn't do anything to insurance, but was there for piece of mind so well worth it. Who cares if it doesn't bring insurance down? As long as the car doesn't move easily!

Usually I would agree mate but I'm not too sure if I can afford the insurance I have been quoted at the minute so it would be a big help if this reduced the cost.
