Catalytic convertor question

My exhaust has been rattling for a while so under the car i go and there is a metal surround on the cat that has rusted through (big hole in moddle)gave it a wiggle and it falls off is the cat still going to be ok or will this have done damage the cat itself looks ok if bit rusty

this is just an exterior heat sheild.it doesnt affect the cats operation.dont worry about it.
