has anyone else found that the bmc cda induction kit is a bit of a squeeze under the 182 bonnet?

yes. Very tight but can be done. Will be easier if you got a samco bend as they are shorter than standard bends

Or save money and shorten the original and u can then fit a caf to it

don't need to shorten it as i havent on mine and i have a CAF. Just need to angle the bend slightly more downwards.

is that where you run the hosing to the grill and fit one of them cup things lol,excuse my termanology

Yes. you run a CAF with a “trumpet” (or cup I don’t think it matters!) from somewhere with good air flow such as the front grill directly into the airfilter

I need to re-look at the way i have fitted mine.
I have shortened my samco bend, then the CAF bends around from the front of the BMC and i've routed it back down behind the n/s headlight and down into the wheel well.
At higher revs, breathing seems much improved - however at low revs, say when you are in 4th pootling along, when you give it a bit of throttle it stutters and causes me to kangaroo a bit.
