Central lock problem .....52plate clio DCi extreme

The passenger side central locking motor has stopped working ...is this a comon fault?

Easy fix or is it a new motor jobbie

cheers
Winston

Im no expert on clios but check the connections on the motor, and the plug just on the inside of the door. might of had a little knock and come off.

if you do need a new motor, its easy to change over. just get one from a scrappy.

Cheers dude

I had the doorcard off at weekend and had a fiddle ...no joy:(

The motor looks to be all fancy because of the auto locking etc etc ???...Do allll mk2's do that?? ...Im a Mk1 boyo:eek:

Scrapy at weekend me thinks

Does your car have a door lock and key hole on the passenger side ?

It does and we tried locking it manally using the key, but it still doesn't lock!

Any ideas? We are gonna have another look later today, if we can have some other suggestions!

If the key wont lock it, it sounds more mechanical than electrical to me. Any sign of damage round the lock ?? as if someone has tried to screwdriver their way in ??

Remove the locking motor but keep it connected to the wiring plug, then test it to see if it moves when you operate the switch.

Ok cool, thanks for that!

The only other thing we could think of is that someone crashed into e last august resulting in a new door etc etc, think it could be something to do with that?

Its possible. Body shops are not always great on fitting up door locks and electrics unless they are dealing with the same cars all the time. In fairness to them, they don't get to take them apart, they are normally smashed to bits when they get them.

The passenger door on your car is in fact fitted up as a drivers door due to the Clio,s origins. thus the reason the deadlocks and emergency alarm control switches are in that locking assembly, its really a question of checking as much as you can till you establish where the problem lies.

Tip.....When you are trying the lock etc. with the door open, push the lock cam back with a screwdriver to simulate the door being closed or it wont lock at all and you wont see the fault.
