Central locking problem

  Clio 1.2 RN
i have just bought a 1.2 clio RN (98) and the central locking only seems to work from the switch in the centre console, it wont work when i unlock the drivers door like u expected, my key doesnt have an unlock/lock button either. is it possible ive been given the spare key and the original key would unlock it? thanks for the help

Hey,
I've been have the exact same problem. I've got a 98 clio (RN) and the switch inside the car works but unlocking from the door and the key doesnt seem to do any thing. I've checked the fuses but dont know where to go from here. Anyone know what else I should check. Cheers

  Clio 1.2 RN
hey, i solved my central locking problem, it turned out that the company i bought the car from had not given me the main key which had the remote button on it. i had the spare which was just a key, u need to go to renault and get a new master key

i have the central locking key, i have a feeling thou that it was once replaced, i read on the forum somewhere that it could be reprogrammed, anyone have any information on this?

Just checking when the key is pressed should it light up on the side, mines currently doesn't n ive changed the batteries, meaning it could just be the key, but surely it should still open all doors when i use the lock :dapprove:

in that case u gotta hold down the central locking button on lock for a couple of seconds whilst clicking the button on the key a couple of times, it worked for me anyway lol.

think on clio's that age if you turn the lock barrel it wont activate the central locking on the other doors. if your plip led doesnt work when pressed and you've changed the batterys then you need a new plip. Approx £70
