Central lockings died

  e92 + E46 M3 + Cup
Hi all, my clio has decided to giv up on the remote central locking, its a mk2 ph1 1.2 RT, went out in it yesterday morning & all was fine.. went out last night & the thing wouldn't open from the remote, the red light flashes on the key so i "assume" thats not the prob although since it didnt come with a spare key i cant test it to be sure.. i've checked the fuses & there all gd so i'm a bit lost as to what could hav caused this.. not a major prob but its already getting annoying having to lock all the doors when every 1s in & out so any help would be great

Thanks,
James

same thing has happened too me last week !
one key went after i came back from hoilday and thought it was the battery so i changed it . didnt work so i got the spare key and it worked again , BUT only for a week . ive took the steering colum off yeasterday and took the black ring off the igiction barrel which was the immobleser and looked at the wires still no go . so put it back again and just out off the blue it started to work again ! so ive just left it .

anyone who mite know what it is would be a great help to both of us

most common thing to happen is for the code to be lost in the plip/transmitter. just happened to mine so bought new one and it works spot on but what i was told off a colleague at wrk as i work for renault is that the keys will need recoding but u must have 2 sets of keys either 1 new and 1 old,in this case the old one must work spot on for it all to be coeded or 2 new ones in which case you dont have to worry about a thing, hope this helps

Well a new key programmed is around £110, so anything around that

I was told that I would just need my recieving board replacing and it would just be coded to the keys. Board £35, half hour labour. Apparently, I've not had it in yet. I believe mine has been damaged by water leakage.

where i work we charge bout 40+vat for the coding in and bout 75+vat for the transmitter and i just swapped key blades over, like i said tho the most common thing is the plip key especially on the 1998-2001 models
