centre bore

looking at new alloys at the moment; is centre bore size important? If I get an alloy with a centre bore of 71mm will it fit onto a 182 ok?

yeah the 182 has centre bore of 60.1mm iirc, 71mm should fit just fine, you will want a set of spigot rings if you want to make taking the wheels on and off easier.

You want spigot rings full stop imo, I wouldn't want all the weight to be on the bolts alone all the time. You need some spigot rings with a 71mm o.d. and a 60.1mm i.d. as said.

they are made of plastic though not exactly load bearing


only reason they are needed is without them even though the wheel bolts are tapered you will never get them to bolt on 100% central... which causes an unbalance/vibration which is what loosens the wheel bolts

spigot rings just let you bolt it on central

Well with the ones I had on my superturismos they were definetly taking load due to how tight the ring was to the bore. The ones I had were nylon which is pretty good at taking compressive loads in that situation.

what's the deal with wheel studs vs bolts? any real advantage there?
