Changing steering wheel.

I have managed to get my hands on 172interior. (Had enough of the extremes colour). Getting it later the week. In with it I have manged to get the steering wheel. Has anyone changed their steerinh wheel on a 2001+ clio??? Can I transfer the airbag??? I am thinking this maybe best left to Renault. Id be greatful for any advice..

Ive changed my steering wheel on my clio which is a 98 onwards model,its pretty straight forward will it seemed it to me as i was wtaching this guy doing it 4 me, must warn u though becareful or the airbag might go and then yr f**ked.

Did you get it done by renault??? Surely if i disconnect the battery the airbag wont go off??? Or is that me being dum!!!

a local garage did it 4me,the guy dint dis-connect the battery he just went on with it.im not sure about dis-connecting the battery though.by the way u have to tell the insurance company or they kick off if owt happens.

think it has its own batteries in it so could still go off in theory, the new max flower clio haynes manual has a bit in it about changing an airbag steering wheel which makes it sound easy

but in the proper haynes it ses scary stuff like your gonna die a horrible death and ur knob will fall off if you touch it

Cheers. Surely if Im replacing it with another rennault steering wheel it isnt gonna make any difference. There is a grate deal of difference and Im sure the airbags are the same!!

even if u disconnect the batt u need to leave it for 15mins for the energy in the cappacitor in the steering wheel to drain.

i seen an extreme the other day, that interior is just wrong. didnt think it was that bad.

and the silly badges on the door...

I honestly cant wait to get rid of the interior. It is doing my head in.
