Charcoal Canister Issues?

  Clio 1.2 16v
Hi all,

Basically my car recently developed a misfiring problem so I went ahead and changed the coil pack and spark plugs, this seemed to cure the misfire but now my car sometimes stalls when cold and has an irratic tick over causing it to stall when cold slowing down for junctions etc.

I was told this could be the map sensor so I went ahead and changed it but the toxic light is still on and my car makes a ticking noise when running and once turned off for about 10mins.

I traced this noise to what appears to be a charcoal canister?

Now after a lot of searching I dont see anyone else with this problem and the ticking only occurs when the toxic light is on...

Also worth noting that my car now has terrible mpg compared to normal but is fine once warm and ticks over just fine, anyone got any ideas as to what it could be and do these charcoal canisters sometimes fail and could it be worth replacing it?

Thanks, Sam

If it's got a fault code, get it on the diagnostics and straight away you will know the issue.

No point throwing parts at it in the meantime.

as above

dont know about the canister, but engine wiring looms and throttle bodies are very common, also the throttle pedal assembly

Thanks,

I have already took out and cleaned the throttle body after similar issues 6 months ago with misfiring but its the first time this ticking noise has started.

I will speak to some local garages and see when I can get it booked in to be hooked up, any idea on a cost?
