Cheap ethernet video streamer

I need a box for playing videos (MKV , AVI - torrents basically) from my NAS box. I use the NAS to download torrents and then would like to use ethernet to display the videos on my telly.

I have a WDTV live box but its 3-4 years old and getting slow. What are people using these days. Cheap is good !

Can you put Plex Media Server on your NAS? If you can then my recommendation is a Now TV box and then sideload Plex onto that.

Only downside is that they only output 720p, but for £9.99 you can't complain. I've got 3 of them in my place.

Raspberry pi running xbmc?
25 quid plus a few bits like power supply and SD card. It'll do what you want plus a whole load more.

Can also control it from your TV remote if your TV supports CEC.
