Cheapest place to buy a new 40" (ish) tv??

  K20 EG Hatch
i did mean to say dont want it be a cheap one, want a good one with s**t hot picture qaulity lol.

That bravia looks bloody nice mate, cheers :D

Its not a progressive tv though is it? :(

right lcd/plasma basics

they are all progressive
th nature of the technology means that they are when you feed it an interlaced picture it plays has to deinterlace them by combining the 2 frames together befor its displayed

Nope, not p but for the price is bloody good. At 40" I don't think you would really notice much difference. It has a lot options to set it up for optimum viewing.

Empire Direct if you're quick as they got a 10% discount code valid until tomorrow midnight.

I got my Toshiba 42C3030DB (didn't get that plasma in the end) for just under £700 INCLUDING a 3 year warranty.

If you have access or know someone who does to a Costco i'd go there.

TV's in there are always dirt cheap compared to normal stores and in the case of my TV anywhere I could find on the internet.

I was thinking about gettin the sony one but just compared these two (with the one that griff mentioned) and the tosh seems a better spec for alot less money!

SON-KDL40X2000U
Sony KDL40X2000U
TOS-42X3030DB
Toshiba 42X3030DB

Price £1599.99 £899.99

the 42x3030 is a much better screen than the 42c3030 but yes it costs more i suppose it depends what you want from it tbh

the 42c isnt a bad screen its just not as good

Toshiba 42X3030DB

So is this the best one to get spec wise without going into silly money?
I will be using it with sky hd and a seperate amp so the tv doesn't even need to have built in speakers.

tv's have built in speakers monitors dont (generally)

imho yes it is but go view them you may have issues with any of the ones mentioned

there is a tosh z series comming out thats better but it will cost

It's got a higher resolution but that aside the TV's are identical in every way.

not quite different case fascia different panel so that pretty much everything

Not all all.

St_Horne from here has the 42X3030 and I've got the 42C3030. Identical manual (It's got 42X and 42C printed on it), identical specs (resolution aside) at the back of the manual, identical remote, identical ports on the back, identical settings/options/firmware, same brightness levels, both have Active Vision LCD, both support 1080P/24 (mine downscales, X doesn't) etc..

Doesn't sound like "pretty much everything" is different to me and I'm not trying to make out they're the same but saying the X is "MUCH" better than the C is a bit naive. Watch Sky/Sky HD on both and I doubt you'll tell any difference at all.

griff the bezzal is different for a start the x is piano black

and as most of the tv is made up of the panel id say that makes it pretty much completely different !!

the image produced will be different due to the different panel

Very true. I visited Costco last weekend and there are some great deals on 40-42" 1080P TV's. They all come with a 3 year guarantee which is great.

hehe :)

nowt to worry about what people seem to forget with these new fangled tv's is if you like it buy it if you dont well erm dont
at the end of the day its you that has to watch it and be happy with it not anyone else

i must admit im very picky regarding tv's these days and i always gop for the best i can even if it means streatching a bit for it

tbh i think my next one will be a 37z3030
