Cheep V6’s

There are an awful lot fo cheep mk1 V6s on autotrader saw on with only 3500miles on the clock for £13,999 is it just me or is that really really good?

I think the Mk1 V6s have taken their initial hit now on price, and residuals will start firming up now that the mk2 is discontinued. I think the Mk2s will drop to close to mk1 prices over the next 2-3 years, but Id be surprised if either mk1 or mk2 drop below the £10k barrier for some years to come, due to their rarety value, & classic status.

Check out the prices of Escort Cosworths - theyre all 8-12 years old now, yet due to their status & rarety value youll struggle to pick one up under £12k, and you can pay nearer to £20k for an unmodified one, and theyve been rock steady at those prices since about 1998, they still dont get any cheaper!

Yet there were about 2500 Mk1 big turbo Escort Cossies made for the UK (cant remember how many small turbo versions, but not as many), as opposed to 400 Mk1 vees and 500 mk2 vees, so I forsee a similar future for V6 values, and there may even be some money to be made as one by one they get scrapped!

Im seriously considering a mk1 v6 next year (if i can save up a bit more) they are just soo nice looking, thing is im not too keen on the interior!
thing is not that many people know what a v6 is.

The school boy in me has always wanted an escort cos, but every local cnut will be round as soon as i got it, trying to steal it:mad:

Ive had 2 Esc Cossies (big & small turbo), and surprisingly no theiving scum ever went near it. I think its out of the league of your average joyrider, and pros have bigger fish to fry - usually anything worth £30k upwards.

As for people not knowing the V6.... I found that I get looked at FAR more in the Vee than I ever did in either of my cossies, even the radiant red one, which was as red as they come with the whale tail on the rear!

If you think the interior of the mk1 vee is poor, youll be equally dissapointed in the Cossie... think 1992 escort with an extra banana bit bodged on the top (not very well), some nice EL dials admittedly, and squeaks and rattles galore! I had to fit various bits of sponge all over the place to fit between panels to stop them rattling so much!
