CIS Insurance

  S2000

What are CIS insurance like for mods?

I posted this up while ago and I think that the response was that they are OK with cosmetic mods but they put your premium up for power mods.

I phoned them about 10 minutes ago but the guy said that they have to check with someone for each modification and because they are so busy with it being a bank holiday today he couldnt check today. He said that he thought cosmetic modifications shouldnt make a difference though. Does anyone have any experience with CIS and insuring modifications and if so what do they class as cosmetic mods? Do you think I could lower it, put alloys on and a back box with no increase in premium?

Thanks,

Dave.

Im with CIS. Ive declared a grille, alloys, induction kit, exhaust and all of which have had no impact on premium.

However when i put my sideskirts on they classed it as a bodykit and put the premium up about £55 for the year.

I rung them further to this and they said that because i had paid the bodykit premium i could do whatever i want without impact on the premium as long as it wasnt an engine transplant / excessive engine tuning.

Important to note that they dont underwrite the value of your mods, only accept them on the policy. If you want them to be underwritten you have to declare (and prove) the value and then they increase the premium accordingly.

^^^^ yup very true.

Also note, that if u geta producer, you have to proove that your mods are covered on the policy. IIRC CIS dotn actually print and send them to you?

mite be worth asking them about this.

To be Sure.
