Do it yourself, I hate subnetting :p

Default mask for this class of IP address

Default Class A = 255.0.0.0

the given subnet mask

26 bits from the 32 = 255.255.255.192

subnet address

65.58.128.0

1st host IP address

65.58.128.1

last host IP address

65.58.128.62

Broadcast address of the 1st subnet.

65.58.128.63

Don't do Comptia..... if you mean A+ Networks. I went on a course for A+ last year and found the sylabus very dated. Told my boss thought it was pointless taking exams for it, instead concentrated on my MCP's, now i'm stacking them up at a pretty fast rate and a lot more relevent to my job.

what are MCPs?

as i am mainly interested in networks really, but anything will do to get stuff under my belt and experience.

Doing the CCNA at college atm over the space of a year. Thinking about doing the MCP's next or i might go do the CCNP and go to uni or college to do a degree in compuer science...What the fook do i do lol ???!!!. First things first though. I need to get this done first.

Been on it 8 weeks and i can perform basic router commands (assigning passwords, ip addresses to ports etc and some other basic crap), find subnetting relativly easy although i cant do it in my head and ive only done class c ipv4. Not done VLSM yet.

Final for semester 1 is on my birthday in 2 weeks time.

As already mentioned there Microsoft Exams (Microsoft Certified Proffessional exams)

There's quite a few network type ones, most are managing/deploying a network within a Server 2000/03/08 Environment etc

Personally I wouldn't bother with CCNA until I was working in a network job role where I was applying stuff I learnt all the time, it'd probably just make learning easier

I got the network+ and server+, they are really rather simple (took them because they were prerequisites for other exams my employer needed). I passed network+ first try with just like 5 hours reading the material, I recon it will take a good while for me to digest all the ccna stuff (think I would need a good month or 2). I also got the 70-290, but that aint really network geared at all.

The ccna takes a good 2-4 months to digest depending upon your abilities. If you want to get into networking itll give you a good basic insight as to how the s**t works and how to configure the pieces of hardware.

If you dont have access to hardware you could always use a program like packet tracer (youll use this anyways if you study it i rekon) however it makes everything so simple. You dont have to actually get off your arse and plug any wires in so to speak.

Did my CCNA 3 years ago ish? And i'm back at uni doing networking and security at TIC in birmingham.
Amazing fun.
Did my CCNA online was paid for by my college though. Easy enough to do.

You make it sound as though you can just sit down and walk into knowing everything in the space of 5 mins.

Looking back though, i dont know what all the fuss was about. Put the work in and youll be fine.

It is if you do that... Wasn't implying you could know it in 5mins...
Work hard at something and it will pay off, good tutors helps a hell of a lot too, ask questions find out how and why things do what they do and it makes things simpler. Practise, there are a lot of people on my course that have never touched a router in their life, there is a differance between knowing how to do something and being able to do something.

I did the CCENT (ICND1) online course, bought from Global Knowledge (US as uk didn't do ccent back last year)
Work paid for the course, i think it was around £900, for that you get an online login which has all the course material, in the form of slides with audio, video & also get a certain amount for login time on remote routers/switches for practical modules.
As well as that you get an exam voucher thrown in which entitles you to do any cisco exam.
All in all i found it really good, the only downside was you didn't get the course book like you would in the classroom (but the you can buy the book)

I then followed it up with the classroom based ccna (ICND2)
I'm yet to take the exam mind you.. it's been about a year since doing the courses.
