Clean (er) EVO



  Bumder With A Buffer
Well the missus is away on holiday and I was bored of playing Red Dead and COD so decided to clean the EVO properly for the first time since owning it (a month)..plus I have been enjoying driving it down dirt tracks etc so it was pretty filthy! :)

Previous owner used to wash it every week but not wax it so there was no protection. My main focus on today was getting a quick layer of wax on to help protect it whilst I find the time to give it a full PC in the next few weeks hopefully.

No before or during pics as I just couldnt be arsed to take photos! Also notice the bloody flies already squished on the mitsi badge! I only drove it 5 mins up the road to my parents for some pics! Bah :(

Products used...

--Megs APC on arches/shuts/front end to help shift bugs etc.
--Bilberry on the wheels followed by some poorboys wheel sealent (brakes on this are awesome but dont half chuck out some brake dust!)
--Foamed with Citrus Snow Foam and a bit of Britemax Clean max to help.
--Washed 2BM with Britemax Clean Max
--Dried with towel and Megs Last Touch.
--Chemical Guys Petes 53 wax applied and buffed off.
--Topped with Jeffs Arcylic.
--Windows sealed with Carlack Sealent (mmm beading windows)
--Chemical Guys New Look Gel on tyres and anything black that looked faded!

Also purchased some white lights off ebay and fitted them today (not bumper off job like the clio but was still a git!)..I was a bit dubious at £10 for both the main beam and dipped but they actually match the led sidelights pretty well :) They are not Xenon's just whiter. It looked s**t before with orange. Id love some Xnons but sack paying £700 for some off an MR!

Whilst cleaning it I could see how swirly it was just in the sunlight and this bugged me but I didnt want to crack open the polisher tonight. Also noticed what I thought was watermarks on the rear bumper actually looks like paint run :( Even more of a reason to look a getting an E9 rear end with the carbon diffuser :)

Also car is in the garage tomorrow for its new exhasut :) Well its second hand off an FQ300 (HKS Superdragger) and will hopefully sound a bit better as there is no noise at all from the car at the minute..apart from the Blow off Valve....I want noise!

Il be giving it some proper love once everything has been sorted and it has been serviced i nthe next nmonth I should think :)

Hmm not sure..The current lights are just the normal chrome type ones (that look crap IMO..look like lexarse and they just dont look right) Previous owner cracked them open and sprayed them black to look like the MR ones. Much better but they aint proper xenon.

I looked at a second hand set and they were £700 :( gay. Might look into the HID kit but id ideally want the normal ones off the MR to be honest.

Question I have...the carbon spoiler glhas a few imperfections.

I was thinking of whipping it off, wet sanding out the imperfections and re-lacquering it up. I guess normal tin spray lacquer would be okay to use??

Looks clean, for me the 8 has always been the ugly duckling of the Evo's. With exception to the 2 and 3 which look like mod'd protons.

I just couldn't bring myself to buy a 7. The idea of getting a "new" car is that it was newer then the old monahoe (02 reg).

Really wanted a 9 but couldn't stretch to that.

Plus all the 7's that were around were high mileage 70-90k. I'm sure if I had waited I could of got a low mileage 7.

But I'm an impatient bastid :)

Cracking Evo u got there, but can't help but think that the spoiler is a tad too big?

I do have the standard 260 spoiler as seen in the picture above, the current one is off a normal fq version etc.

At first I didn't like the black one and wanted to change it but it's grown on me now. Shame you can't get an Inbetween sized one that would be ideal. The standard one is just pointless

Yeah its great fun...I may consider buying a cheap s**t heap to run to work in as im racking up the miles/fuel bills already..but then If i used it as a weekend car id probably spend £40 on fuel as id be caining the s**t out of it! 230 miles to a tank = £55 ish.

The rear end is as clean as it was on sunday after washing it! :)...although there is some splatter up the side on the rear bumper..contemplating some mud flaps :eek:

Load of bullcrap :) (well it seems to be...there are plenty of tuned ones on the Lancer Register, one 433 a couple of 390's) Seems to be a bit of an old wives tale.

Cams are the same, (despite what people seem to say), only differences are Exhaust, Engine mapping, and injectors and maybe fuel pump but it seems that any stock EVO pump needs replacing after the 360+ barrier.

I really like 8's!

I think the spoiler looks big and a bit out of place is due to not having the rest of the kit ie front splitter... Face down, arse up is always the best combo!!!

What is the performance of the std 260???
 
0-60 is 5.9 me thinks. Weighs the same as mine, so need to get mine remapped to hit your sort of figures Richy!
