Cleaning geeks, help me please.

  Sunshine Bus ph-quick
Hiya :)

Be gentle, I'm not into 6 hours+ on cleaning my car.
I bought this at FCS
http://www.gpwizard.co.uk/shop/inde...id=211&zenid=73c9043da2bf9393c0b91372b2b1ea5f
Inside its got:
a massive sponge & some polishing cloths
body work shampoo & conditioner
Clean wheels
Super resin polish
bumper care
fast glass
leather cleaner
leather care cream
and some screen wash.
I've got a pink microfibre wash mitt (OH says its s**t :(), a wheel brush thingy & some of the black label AG polish, is it super gloss or something?

...lol, where do i start? Waaaaaaaay too many products and I'm a bit confused. (its a naples clio on white wheels if that matters?)

Also, do I need a wax for it?
I've been looking at the autoglym AquaWax?

Nice little kit there actualy, Auto Glym is brilliant stuff.

I wash and polish my car every weekend (geek!) and it was slightly faded when i got it (red to pink..) but after cleaning regularly its came right up!

Wash the car with the Auto glym body shamppo (Dark green label) and rinse if off with a hose. If its hot outside.. Wash one half with the shampoo then rinse.. then do the other side (less chance of it drying on the car)

You'll need a chamois to dry the car after washing it, this gets rid of any water marks! If not.. you'll have to let it dry naturaly and then polish the marks off.. notr the best way but does the job.

Once your car is dry take a lint free cloth and apply a small ammount of polish to the cloth and rub onto the car (Karate kid, wax on wax off style!)

Cover every painted bit on the car and when it starts to dry it will go to a white haze which makes it alot easier to buff off.

While the polish is on/drying I tend to do the windows, any overspray from the window cleaner (Fast glass, purple label) lies on the polish not the paintwork! Leaving no streaks.

So, you'll need two lint free cloths again for the windows. One spray on each window is enough. Once its on wipe the whole of the window down and keep "buffing" til theres no streaks (you'll see what i mean) and when it starts to go your window will be sparkling. Once you've done the outside you can do the inside if it needs it, just repeat the same process!

Now take the bumper care (if your has non colour coded bumpers) and apply a light coating to them with a cloth and leave to dry.

Removing the polish - Take the perfect finishing cloth and begin to buff the polish off turning the cloth from side to side when it gets "clogged up"

Once the polish is all off stan dback and admire it!

Takes about and hour and a half - 2 hours to do but once a week, once every two weeks.. either way it keeps the car looking nice and clean.

Heres what mine looks like after a wash and polish.

That pink bag is Awesome I want one :(

Don't apply the Resin polish to the whole car, do a panel at a time and work it till it has nearly all gone, allowing it to dry in a white haze means you have used to much and it will dust like hell on removal.

Also worth getting the Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection to follow the resin polish with to seal the paintwork.

As for wax I would look into a proper Carnuba wax such as

Scrap the sponge and polishing cloths.

The sponge will swirl the paint really badly.

The polishing cloths aren't too good as they clog up easily and make the super resin polish go really dusty.

Clean wheels is quite acidic and will eat into the finish on your alloys if theres any bubbles or marks on them.

Basically, wash with the shampoo using a sheepskin mitt, dry with a microfiber towel as microfiber causes less abrasion on the surface of the paint, i 'pat dry' my car which takes ages but it means no dragging anything across the surface of the paint minimizing swirls and marring.

Once dry, apply a thin coat of super resin polish with a foam applicator pad to spread the product evenly.

Buff off the polish with a plush microfiber towel for best results.

Forget the aquawax just get a good carnuba. I'd recommend xxx hardcore carnuba from chemical guys http://www.chemicalguysuk.com/product_p/xxx.htm

When you've done all that, apply a coat of super resin to your wheels, buff off and the water will bead right off them.

Use the bumper care on the exterior plastics, again apply with a foam applicator pad for best results leave for for 30-45 mins and buff with a microfiber towel to stop the product running when it rains.

No it doesnt? I do this every weekend and I never have any problems with it.

The haze is just a light coating of the polish not "thick" which i why i said haze not solid white lump :rasp:

I have to agree with Rich (who has the skills to pay the bills). It will leave a slight amount of dust if you leave it to dry. Best to work it right in.

Rich - are you sure about using AG SRP & EGP on alloys? You have confirmed before, but just checking one final time before I fill by boots. The product descriptions refer to paintwork only, that's all.

Anything that hazes is dried on product, which in effect is just excess wasted product so no need for it. Work the polishes till it is gone, produces better results and reduces the work needed to remove it.

SRP and EGP on the wheels are great combo, wheels in most cases are painted in the same way as the bodywork.

Rich is the "MAN"....if you had the pleasure of gazing eyes on his car at FCS.....like I did...then he is a man of knowledge.

I tried to find....swirls.....overwaxing......on his shiny shiny oh so shiny car and failed miserably.

Thankies :)

I've got some microfibre cloth things :)

Going to give it a go if it ever stops pissing raining :(

Do I need a sheepskin mitt, not one with strands of microfibre? (its pink & matches see?)

The microfiber ones are ok (better than a sponge anyway), Lambswool are more paintwork friendly.

Thanks :)

Just washed my wheels with the sponge, so its not gonna be touching bodypaint now its covered in brakedust and stuff.. They were rank.
