Clearing Engine Management Light

Hi,

I had a missfire on cylinder 3 which brought the Engine Managament light on the dash. When plugged it in, it read two codes, Missfire on Cylinder 3 and Injector fault on Cylinder 3.

I have now changed the injector and the problem is resolved and the car is running well again. However the EML light is still showing. I have a Scan Gauge that I have tried to clear the fault codes with, but it won't knock the light off :S

How do I clear the light off the dash? Thanks!

Are there no other fault codes coming up on the scan gauge? Mine used to turn itself off after the problem was fixed...

RSTuner will clear it. Otherwise wait for 3 drive cycles and it will turn off.

It read 3 codes when I first plugged it in. A PO136 code as well as these two which was a lamda code. The EML only came on with the missfire though, so I think the P0136 is an old stored code.

It's still reading all three when I plug it in to scan gauge. The Scan Gauge won't clear them as it does with my Astra or other cars I have used it on.

How can you get them cleared short of taking it to Renault?

I've a feeling it will go out if I drive the car for a decent distance but the car is no longer insured and is sold, so don't want to drive it far, or give it to the new owner with an EML light on!

Need a better code reader/diag tool or someone with an RSTuner, but I'm not sure whos got one round here..

Can Mark not drive it on his trade plates down the road and back for you?

i've got a similar-ish, but strange issue. my eml light is off, but when i plug in my scanner i still get a fault code for the lambda i recently replaced. cleared it twice but it still pops up when i plug it in. but eml stays off.

Yeh I think that's what he's gonna do foxy, but he's a busy boy! Trying to find the time at the moment.

Hopefully it will be out soon. Can't believe how much trouble I've had with that car. Thank god it's gone.

you know you can pop up mate
