Clicking noise when pressing clutch pedal down

The RSi i looked at tonight was great, but the only thing i found a problem with was the clutch

ive not driven it, but in standing form when the clutch is pressed its really stiff and you can hear a clicking noise in the engine bay when fully depressed. The gear select is smooth just the clutch pedal.

Is this normal or something i should stay clear of?

many thanks

I had this a few weeks ago with my car. I pulled off my drive and the clutch got stuck in and i cudnt go anywhere, i managed to roll back into a space over the road and the clutch popped back out and then everytime i pushed it in it clicked...luckily a amchanic lives next door so i went and got him out and he just said the cable needed lumbricating and put some oil on the end and its been fine ever since.....hope this helps

The clutches are really stiff on these, I owned one for three years and broke two clutch cables! Not a bad car. I remember the occassional clicking noise, I tried spraying oil on all sorts of moving bits - never cured it. Was worse in hot weather I think.
