Clicking noise

  Clio 182
Just been out for a drive and noticed a weird clicking noise which seems to be coming from the front driver’s side wheel.

It sounds like a cable tie or something is rotating with the wheel and hitting the ground on each rotation. I had a look under but could not see anything.

The strange thing is you can only hear it when the car is moving and the accelerator pedal is being pressed. Take your foot of and it seems to stop, even if the car is still rolling. Also seemed to go away at higher speeds.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Just been told that it could be the driveshaft, but that was just by explaining it to the mechanic, he hasn't had a look yet.

Anyone know if a driveshaft sounds like this?

Booked in to the garage for wednesday. I will let you know what they say. If it is a CV joint/driveshaft I'm looking at at least £200 for the part from Renault and then about 90 min labour.

I know Renault do reconditioned drive shafts but I think you need to trade your own in. Does this mean it will need to be done at a Renault gragage or could a local garage arrange this?
