Clifford G5 alarms

I am thinking of buying an alarm once I have fixed my door back together again, (see Pictures and Media forum).

I have been looking into getting an alarm for a while now (if only Id got it sooner ) and think that I may get a Clifford Concept 450 which is part of the G5 series. If anyone has one of these alarms specifically, or even any of the new range, then could they give me their experiences on them please.

Wow.

G5 is out..

Best get looking for one!

I have a Concept 300 G4 on my 1.2.. worked flawlessly.

Are right, cheers Daz, didnt know that, how long do ya recon it will take to become CAT1 approved, any ideas?

Hope its soon, as I shallnt be going far without a seriously good alarm to make the scum who think they can just break in, deaf.

Cheers Lunner, hopefully it will be before my car gets fxed, then i dont have to have any worries about it.

Although could I buy it and get it fitted and then once it gets CAT1 approval tell my insurance and then hopefully my premium should go down slighty?

No, The 450, 550 etc.. will never be Thatcham rated - they are bringing out new models which are.

Well I would wait a while and see what the views are when they have been around for a few months, as the guy that installed my concept 600 said that as Clifford is now owned by direct audio he thinks the standards may have gone down hill. But its hard to say till they have been out for a bit and you can hear peoples views. The new remotes are defo better thou, the old G4 remotes were to be honest a bit pants and you hear a lot of complaints about them. I know 3 good friends all with the same remotes and we all had the same problem with the battery shorting, easily sorted at Car electronics by cutting a small peice of the inner-casing away and it was all good. The newer G5 remotes which are availble are good and can be programable to the older alarms. If you are looking now for a alarm mate, get a good deal on a G4 system and get the upgrades, like the Blue G5 flashing LED etc. The G5 remote can be brought for about £40

I have the Dual Zone Proxes on my G4 Concept 300.. and you cant disable it when you leave the car without unplugging it.. so, its a bit of a pain sometimes!

The only way to disable it is to leave it in Valet mode.. but that disables the lot.

The G5 seems to have remote disable on the dual zone proxes.. which, will be damn useful for me.. heh. I want the Perimiter protection but that slight problem kinda annoyed me.

Daz I could have swore you could press a key conbination to disable that. Prob a complicated one but im sure its possible. I will check my instructions, it is kinda annoying when going to the washing line in the morning and setting it off at like 6am haha.

The proximity can be turned off with pressing Lock + Headlights after youve armed it - the problem is, or at least on mine, it doesnt disable the dual zone proxes.. so it still goes off if someone is in the car/walks round it.

clifford g5 arent bad but they seemed to have down specced alot of the alarms.. my last week at car electronics before leaving to start my own company we did a g5 avantguarde and it only has half the features the g4 did..

depends what you wanna spend youd be better getting a g4 as you still get lifetime warranty and as clio172boy says get them to mod the battery carrier and case and make sure you get the non-rub off buttons as how many people have clifford key fobs with the sysmbols gone..

Cheers people, I suppose that changing the key fob, wont affect its CAT1 status?

BTW what other options are available on the G4 systems? With a rough price.

Thanks again.

My G4 fob is fine - the symbols havnt come off.. but the carbon fibre has.. all peeled in loads of places.

Concept 300 is about £300 fitted now.. for just the alarm. If I could get the Dual Zone Proxes Module to disable from the remote, Itd be a lot better.

Daz, re the dual zone proxes, cant you alter the sensitivity on it? I have the concept 600 and using the master remote I can turn the proxes up and down. Handy if youre parking in a busy public place or something

Erm, now theres a question lol. Ive not had to alter it for a while, ill have a go tonight and let you know :)

you cant alter sensitivity using con 300 remote only the master remote that comes with the con 500 and 600.. done using the side shift key..

not sure if you could do it using a g5 remote on your con 300 as this remote does have a shift key on the front..

speak to clifford technical

Looked in the Manual for the Concept 600 on Clifford.com (Mines the COncept 300) and the override for the proximity doesnt work..

You can press the Lights/Lock after.. and it disables one but then again, it should disable another zone - mine doesnt.
