Clio 16V MK1 Phase 2 - Drivers Airbag Light

Hi All,

I have a 1995 Clio 16v MK1 Phase 2 which has been disconnected from its battery for a while. After connecting the battery and switching on the ignition, the driver airibag light on the steering wheel lights up. I have done nothing with seats or seatbelts all original wiring. I looked in the Haynes Manual and its says there is a battery involved in the steering wheel itself, not sure if this has drained and triggered the fault once the main battery was connected.

Anyone have any pointers out there?

Cheers

It wont be the airbag as you can remove it and it wont put the light on - funnily enough it's not even physically plugged into the car 🤣

It's going to be one of the belt tensioners on the buckle, the control box or the wiring between them at fault, pop the centre console out and you'll be able to see the control box, it's possible for moisture to be trapped in that area causing corrosion so check all over it including the wires & connections and see if you find anything obvious
