Clio mk2 1.2 NOT STARTING

so I've got the standard non starting issue. The car turns over quickly and i can hear the fuel pump priming so i know all of that is ok. When I put they key in and ignition on I have the solid red light for a few seconds then it goes off - But the bloody thing still won't start. I've tried the key in position two and the lock button trick and have had no success. I found a post about the sports having stretched wires over the gearbox could i have the same issue?

crankshaft sensor ? if you hear fuel pump prime the immobilise is not the fault. do you hear a relay click when you try to crank the engine ? check the 12v wire on the starter motor. mine is a small white wire. it can come lose
