Clio Mk2 Static Shock Problem...

Anyone with a Mk2 Clio have a really annoying static shock when they touch they door or any part of the car after driving it??? is it just me?
I cant bring myself to shut the door with my bare hand anymore! :oops: i look like a right prick shutting my door by pushing the window or by pulling my sleeve down! it is quite a shock may i add! passengers dont seem to have a problem.

cheers

charlie

I get it on most cars, but the Clio is particularly bad. I too push the window or use my jacket sleeve!! I hate static shocks and seem to be prone to them.

I think we just have to live with it, mines brand new and its terrible for giving me shocks, I asked the dealership about this and they said there is no cure for it.

YES !! someone else gets the shocks too.. it isnt just me.. (it doesnt seem to happen when its wet outside)

I have got this down to a fine art now.. just as you finish driving and are about to get out the car open the door and touch the metal of the door with you hand.. now put your foot on the ground.. you are cured.. no shock..

Hang on! What about one of those reeeeeally attractive lightning strips that hang down from the back of your car and drag on the road? You remember! They were quality...

If the weather is dry I get a lot of these - not just from the car either. The garage door seems to charge me up then I get a shock when I turn a light on in the house. :confused:

I get really bad ones of the car and door handles at work when I wear Adidas Country Ripple trainers.

The ones from the car are so bad that when I put it in the garage at night you can see the spark between me and the car. I try to close it with one finger and only touch the window rubber!!

LOL!! I thought this was just me! Saw a coold blue arc when I tried to close the door on my 172 last night.:eek:

window.open=NS_ActualOpen;
orig_onload = window.onload;
orig_onunload = window.onunload;
window.onload = noopen_load;
window.onunload = noopen_unload;

is it not the alcantra? The velour seats in my saxo were far worse so im guessing it the suede type material that does it.

Griff_90 reckons he had the same problem with Adidas trainers too.

It may be the Alcantara but I doubt it. My chair at work is just plain crap, and everytime I get out of that the door handle almost knocks me over. Ive taken to using my knee so that my jeans absorbe some of the shock, then I open the door normally. :oops:

i get it too on my Mk1, nearly every time i get out. I think its due to wearing rubber soled trainers etc etc. I just accept it and touch the metal most of the time. Its just due to the static build up while you are driving due to movemnet on the seats/pedals etc etc. Pain in the arse but not much you can do cept get out and close the door with youre foot lol

ye it is a pain in the arse.. i got out my car once and got a shock straight through my nipple to the door.. ouuuch that bloody hurt .. and my nipple was hard for about 2 days after that .. grr..

You can reduce the shocks by adding one of those stupid earth straps from the bodywork to the ground. I notice it more wearing certain types of shoes. When wearing trainers I get shocked every time, but when wearing my boots never been shocked yet. Anyone else noticed this?

i got one last night i ended up sitting on the floor after it knocked me over :oops: couldnt feel my arm for about 5 minutes was funny my mum heard the crack as i got the shock lol

I really cant work this one out. Today I have the trainers on which normally give the shocks. They arent!! Maybe its an atmospheric thing?
