Clio related Top Gear

  Clio v6

If Jeremy Clarkeson told us all the Clio was total crap, would you be selling up next week?

  MINI JCW

On the 182 review Clarkson slated some bits off the car and praised other bits

anyway opinions are like belly buttons everyone has one but most dont hold much water!

No as Clarkson has no taste.

I might sell it though oly to swop to a 182/172 if prices dropped so low that swopping the dci cost very little.

  Scruffy blue 182

The 182 review top gear did was a fair review - crap driving position, cheap interior (apart from the lovely seats!). Oh and its quick. Damn quick!

Having driven one, theres nothing anyone could say that would make me get rid.

I always find his reviews pretty fair to be honest. Lets face it though if the clio had bad press reviews would we have bought one in the first place?

I value the opinion of EVO mag and not top gear, there opinion of the 182 was that it was every bit as good as the porka 911 carrea S in all the areas where it mattered (performance wise) and how many other hot hatches including CTR, LCR could keep pace with the 911 crosss country?

Answer - None!

If I wanted a car Top Gear reviewed, and they said it was crap.. I probably wouldnt buy it.. else whats the point in watching it if you dont want to know/care what they say.

Clarkson is an entertaining guy. I watch Top Gear because its a light hearted watch on an otherwise suicidal Sunday night. But I dont often take too much notice of his opinions on cars, as frankly I always feel like hes just saying things as an excuse to use the snappy phrases that he made up the previous night while wasted on sherry.

When it comes to trusting an actualy driving opinion, its Tiff Needell all the way for me, because he can actually drive.

clarkson is starting to go a bit sh*t.when he tested the 182 he said bad things like its ride quality is crap then about 5 secs later he said its smooth and glides over pot holes.he is a bit of a bullsh*tter but he is funny now and then

the problem with top gear is they all like cars that are £80k+ anything normal is bad but it is still a good program and i dont care what they say ill drive it and if i like it and can afford it ill buy it.

as for his comments on the boot carpet in the 182 who gives a stuff i only put crap in there anyway i wouldnt care if it was trimmed in leather from the rolls royce factory

He slated the 182s interiors build quality but didnt even comment on the v6s. Surely a car that costs 14k having a bad interior isnt as bad as one costing 25k.

I know the point of the v6 isnt the interior but still.

I agree with Brazo, evo tells the truth!!!!!! as ecoty 2004 concluded the 182 gives you the same thrill of driving as an exige. All the car tests are objective as they are driven lots of different people with different tastes so you get an all round view. Much better than Top Gear.

Entertaining guy but i take what he says with a pinch of salt.In the case of the 182 he contradicted himself and IMO made himself look a fool doing so.

he also said that it was uncomfortable, then later started talking about its half leathers and all the equipment and then said it was very comfortable. He did concluded by saying the 182 that none of its faults matter for one very good reason as it makes you feel happy!

Hes funny but dont take that much notice of him

The plastic dash comments only prove what a snob he is becoming. Did he expect a £14000 car to be trimmed in real aluminium with a stitched calf leather dash and carbon fibre knobs? I know he then changed the tune and started laying on the praise, but you just know he was trying to be a smart arse - like the tracing paper boot lid??? WTF?

i must say when i first shut the boot my car nearly moved 10ft down the drive it is very light. i used to have a bmw mini and the doors and boot was solid but i dont think it was any better quality inside the dash was about the same.

Thing is as soon as Clarkson sees its french hes straight out with the jokes before hes even opened the door! Like Roy said hes gonna get his little jokeys made the previous evening out 1 way or the other. However, I certainly take his opinion into account and I felt he was mostly right with his 182 review. Despite that I also take into account evos review, especailly the bit where they said the 182 with cup suspension "might just be the best hot hatch ever" :)

As iceblue182 said, its entertaining, but nobody in their right mind would spend their dosh on what that t0ss pot said, as the german woman said on the autobahn, youre not completely talentless, just 80%

Personally, i think she was quite generous.

Im not sure what he was on about thee boot being made of tinfoil. My car seems better put together than the Yaris Ive been in and people rave about there quality.

  Clio 200 Cup

Come on people we all know the Clio interiors arent exactly luxurious. Thats not a criticism seeing as the price they cost, but still Clarkson is right. I find him hilarious and lets be honest, he has driven basically every car ever rolled off the production line so his opinion, in amongst the jokes and fun, must count for something. I know hes not the best driver in the world but I think he has the perfect qualities for a program like Top Gear and most of his reviews echo what Evo, 5th gear, Parkers, etc say.....but in a more comedy orientated style. If he just picked out the faults and didnt make jokes about them, top gear would be a very dull program. Just admit it that most French cars use cheap plastics!

He just annoys me the way he thinks every german car is brill, and nothing else counts.

Like his comment during his totally unbiased report on the golf gti, about the CTR just being a honda.

Dont hondas come out above ANY german marques in all the surveys?

Then reporting on the toyota prius saying youd do better with a VW lupo.

Maybe the big boys at Renault should take him out to dinner more often.

Sorry I must have missed the episode he was paid to say that.

Hes an entertainer with an opinion; take a big bucket of salt with him. Its too well known about his attitude towards the French and French cars, so expect a sl*gging upfront (although he did love the V6, as said).

He did contradict himself about comfort and I feel he was picking on things needlessly, such as the parcel shelf?! Additionally, the interior dash plastics are pretty decent (i think) because of the softer squish feel to them. My mate has a 318 Compact BMW (2002 reg) and he said that the quality of the 182 dash plastic was on par with what was in his BMW which creaks a lot more than the 182 i can tell you that (not that the 182 creaks you understand).

Similarly, ive been in new Golfs that are plastic to the hilt; so its brand snobbery getting in the way again.
