Clio Si gear lever jumping about and clunking noise when driving in reverse - help!

Hi, I've got a Clio 1.4 16v Si, year 2000, had it since new. In the last 2 months it's had all 3 engine mountings replaced to try and stop the gear lever jumping about, it's banging and clunking while driving along (not too bad in 4th or 5th gear tho) does it every time i put my foot on an off the accelarator, there is also a banging noise when driving in reverse. It's been to a couple of local garages to be fixed but it's come back just the same. Any advice gratefully received. Thanks

Isn't there 4 engine mounts? Sounds like the rear gearbox mount.

You've got rear gearbox, top gearbox, front gearbox and top engine mount.

Hi DannyR, thanks for your reply The garage that did the engine mounts for me said there was 3, forgive me for not knowing which is which but I've had the one done under the battery, the big one on the driver's side at the top of the engine and the dogbone (its had 2 of those in the last 14 months) It's becoming quite a headache. Whereabouts is the 4th one please?
