Clio v6 misfire

  RenaultSport clio v6 mk1
I think this might have been covered before but can't seem to find the thread. I have just recently bought this car and love it but I had it for less then a month when it started to misfire and there was a lack of power, this was sorted out under warrenty and the mechanic said this was a common problem amongst clios - what he replaced was a coil pack. It has happened again, just yesterday, it has started to misfire. Just wanted to know others experience in this area and anything I should be aware of. Any help much appreciated.

i think its a common problem on the vee, they are individual pencil coils and failing is what they do best. make 'em change all of them

What I will do is change them when i need to, due to cost. What I am thinkong of doing is just to keep a note on which ones i have changed and when. I am going to renault tomorrow to get my part and will ask them how long the warrenty is on these coils and if any fail within these time I will take them back. The guys at renault near me seem alright to talk to so I might pose a few questions there way.

Yup - once one goes, the others tend to follow in quick succession. I had them all done, and touch wood, 10,000 miles with no coil failures... the back 3 are buggers to get to, so if one of them goes, it's well worth having the other 2 changed at the same time.

Alternatively SG Motorsport will upgrade them to the Trophy spec coils, which apparently are much stronger.

Cheers, i thought i read this some where. Pardon my ignorance but who and where are SG Motorport.

Very common fault especially at this time of the year when its damp - its usually moisture in the air that causes the fault although i have replaced a few in the summer months. They are individual coil packs - part number 9633001580 £44.72 + vat new.

Thanks for the repies. Hadn't had the chance to take a good look at the engine yet so an easy part to replace like the coils i thought i would do myself. I had a 5 Turbo before this for a couple of years so if I can solve problems on this i think this v6 will not be so bad. I have come to a stop, the three under, what looks like the air intake, i need to get to these ones. Is it ok to unbolt this and take it strat off or are there any important bits that i would interfer with if i did this. I have no book or instructions to follow so going in a bit blind.
