clutch & c Clip replacement info req- preventative maintenace

Car  182 arctic
going to be replacing my clutch 62k miles 2002 mk 2 172 as preventative maintenance...
spoke to a local mechanic and hes said sometimes the bolts turn within the chassis members which require cutting to get on the end of..
is there anything i can do to help this situation... keep soaking in wd40?? not tried them yet to be honest...

also best one i have read on here is a valeo version...
and what is involved in the c clip mod.. is this worth doing?

thanks

Andy

wouldn't bother with the clutch yet, give it until at least 80,000 miles.

renfort plate is worth doing for the diff.

Yep, i wouldn't worry unless it's slipping etc.

Captive nuts spinning isn't a big deal - you can get to them easily enough.

In terms of additional jobs to do while you're at it, steering rack bushes, arb bushes and tie rods i'd do if they've never been done. Oh, valeo clutch only, and stick some fresh box oil in while you're at it too..

I did this at 120,000 on mine because I thought the same as you at the time. The clutch was nowhere near worn at that mileage even after several track days.
