Clutch cable on Williams 3

I was feeling really good this weekend after managing to change the pads on my Willie with minimal fuss, and then I go out not 30 mins ago and manage to snap my clutch cable.

Does anyone know is this is a relatively easy task to do myself, with tools and a Haynes manual?

What sort of money do you think I would expect to pay for a cable.

Any help appreciated

Dont know if its hard to change mate, but ur looking at about 15 quid for the cable.

Itll probably be worth changing the pedal aswell.

£22 or something for a cable from Renault.

Just checked GSF and cable is £12, not bad really and pedal is £13

Hope its an easy task to do

13 to 15 quid is about rite as for changing they aint piss easy but they are managable if you can get car up really high i find putting two wheels on kerb and jacking up the other side is the safest good luck

Hmm I reckon this is gonna be a pain in the arse...a mate of mine brother managed to change the cable on my old valver, didnt need to jack it up though..although it did take a while to do

I reckon it will be worth a go first, then if I fail miserably time to take it to the garage.

the clutch cables not bad to change if you jack the car up.the pedals however are a fiddily idea and a bit awkward.i hate doing the pedals.

How come Matt? Would a Renault one last me longer?

The reason Im asking is I have two motor factors very very close to my work, and could get a cable in my lunch from them no problem, Renault on the other hand is a bit further away and probabbly a weekend job, but if its worth it Ill go.

They can be very prone to snap, especially if your clutch is on the way out, so i try to use Reno bits when they are not too dear.

Saying that, i put a non-genuine one on my red 16v and never had any trouble with it, but when i just did my willy one i used a Reno one.
Would probably be ok with the one from motor factors if more convenient.

Just been to motorfactors and neither of them have the cable, so a kind lady at Renault Preston is going to deliver me one to work tomorrow for £18, bargain I reckon.

get one from GSF mate £10 + VAT as its the same as the valver, ive had 3 go on me. This could be bad news mate, as it may mean your clutch is on its way out! I had my clutch replaced and its fine now Not a complicated job to do yourself but very annoying as there is no room to work! but i am a novice when it comes to cars

ok just had 1 done on gti girls willy 2, the cable from reno £12

i advise u dont bother with any thing other than a reno 1 as i tried a motaquip on my 16v and it didnt fit properly and i spent 3 hours tring to make it fit

i had the cable supplied and fitted for under £50 at bbpt

Yeah I had the cable go on my old valver and only a new clutch would sort this out....I really hope this isnt the case...does it defiantly mean it on its way out or might I be lucky?

I havent read all of the thread, but when I used a patent part cable on my five, I tried three and they were either the wrong lenght or the end was not exactly rich and it wiould come off the pedal.

RENAULT ONLY FOR THE CABLE.

Dont know mate if your nect one goes within 6Months then i would think you may nead a new one! But how does your clutch feel!? is it slipping, high revs in second gear!?
