clutch or gearbox?!

  Civic Si
got a willy 2, had the clutch replaced about 2 months ago, but last night whilst driving it was was almost impossible to put it into 1st or 2nd gear, i had to really force it, so much i thought i was gonna snap the gearstick.

was fine this morning for half the journey but then started to play up again. feels as tho the gate for the gear isnt open, and when it goes in it doesnt crunch in..

any ideas ladies and gents??Back to top

i have same problem...ideas would be good... im thinking it might be the oil. someone i know told me to use red gear box oil, its one grade up from ATF and is supposed to be really good.

a little test for you, if it wont go in next time, put it in nutral then let clutch off, then press it again and try to put in gear again. this normally makes it easyer for me..

i tried that, think it may be the gear selecter, think the clutch is engaging but just wont let me into gear.

umm i woudnt have thought so, not if its better sometime and not so good other times. when the gear selector is generally out it general is always had to get into gear....are you sure its not jut the cold weather? also could be your thrust bearing/clutch springs, but really not likely if its a new clutch...

dont think it's the cold weather buddy, seeing as it's been colder than it is now and it was fine...so possibly change gear box oil or else i may have to throw my car back at the garage who done my clutch...coz when i cant get it into the gear the biting point drops a bit.

god dam i hate car trouble :(
