Clutch pedal prob

Hi ive seem to have a prob with my clutch pedal recently. Sometimes when I change gear in can stick, get stuck near the floor or gets stuck before it comes back up. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it as its getting annoying and a bit dangerous!!?? Its a 1996 mk1 1.2 Clio

does it go slack when it comes back up, ie can you lift the pedal up, but it falls back down or does it stick donw there under tension sorta thing?

First problem, i'd say clutch release bearing, or cable getting caught somewhere.

2nd and more likley problem, the mechanism on teh top of the pedal is buggered, £23 for a new pedal assembly from renault

Yea it the second one it kind of gets stuck down, works fine most of the time tho but needs sorting. Thanks for the help tho
