Coilover springs look terrible, new ones necessary?

My springs on my FK coilies looked terrible when I took the wheels off the other day . . .

They started blue and have now lost all of the paint . . . Now I am not bothered about the look of them, but could this be a sign of problems to come and would you think degraded springs are best replaced?

silly idea, but cant you get them powdercoated ? wouldnt it make the life span much longer due to rust not effecting it then ?

depends how bad they are. most springs rust but if all paint is off them then i would be concerened as ive saw 5 year old fk coilover springs and they still have a blue colour to them.

i wouldnt powdercoat as that can crack but you could paint them using some high temp engine spray paint as its very durable. i had a mate who did that to some custom springs that started to rust and they came out nicely. dont know how long they lasted for though

I would buy new ones in all honesty lads, looking on the site it appears that they are around 20 euros per spring. Small price to pay for piece of mind, IF Birchdown think it is appropriate.
