colour coding DIY style

im in the process of spraying my side moulding black, to match the car, should i use the plastic grey primer before spraying the black??

Its really easy to do just make sure you always use thin even layers

do you know of a specific way to get a thin even layer?

Don't spray to close to the object. Sweep or 'brush' along it rather than aiming at just one area.
Just to prevent any thick build up that could cause run lines.
Test spray the nozzle away from the object before moving over to it. Get an idea of how the paint is coming out the can etc.

on textured plastics, rub it down as smooth as possible. 1st coat use a plastic primer, then additional layers use a filler / high build primer to further help leave a smooth fiish for applying colour
