can a bodywork shops get the exact colour match for your car, pressuming it has no plates/colour numbers on the vin plate etc, say for example you bought a car, didn't know what the actual colour was and you needed some work doing, could a bodywork shop sort it, or are you fooked?

most can yes, they will mix colour to match the car, some may insist on a colour code though as they dont have the ability to mix and tint it properly and just go with numbers and variants

Do you have a number plate? Most dealerships can quote the paint reference from the number plate.

so its a case of finding the right bodyshop to do it then, its an aftermarket paint colour, so reg would be no good mate

yup, or, if the bodyshop you want to use cant match the colour themselves, goto your local paint supplier with your petrol cap or something and they will mix up the paint for you to match the car. Just ask the bodyshop how much they need

halfrauds do colour match in touch up and spray just had some do for a audi a4 bang on match (grey met)

when we do a colour match we send something like the fuel filler flap away and they send out a tin of the correct paint, that way is guanteed to be right, aparently lol

Depending on the age and colour of the car, you may find that they need to adjust the paint so that you get a good match. If the paint is old it won't matter even if they get the original right.
