Complicated insurance question

My isurance is up on my saxo on december 14 and i want to replace it with a 172. I know my current provider (more than) will refuse to quote me on one even at renewal because of their "low risk policy". But i can get a a quote off confused with another firm on the 14th of november for a policy starting on the 14th december with my details how they will be on that date, ie the amount of no claims and driving years.

Will it be okay to buy this insurance policy and the clio on the 14th of november and leave it on my drive way letting the insurance on my saxo run out and waiting for the clios policy to start?

So long as the cars SORN I think it should be fine mate, new laws state that a car must have both insurance and tax as far as I know? So effectively if its not got insurance you must declare it as sorn, although for a month you may be able to get away with it. Its your risk to weigh up though!

If you leave it un-insured on your driveway with and it isn't sorned then it will pop up on the DVLA computer and they will come and crush it (IIRC)

Ones come up that i really like, the dealer has offered to put it in storage for a month. Could i insure it within 21 days of the renewal on my saxo (21st Novemeber) then they could get my no claims certificate on the 14th dec ?

Only the new insurance company can answer that.

Also, WTF are you doing on comparison websites ?! Waste of time/ money etc. Ring companies up. Specialists. Speak to people not computers.

We get a real hard time on insurance in Manchester, only one company are affordable the they are thousands less than everyone else and they come up on confused. 20 with 2 years ncb in Manchester, i doubt any specialists will do me any favours.
