Car  Clio 1.2 16 - 2003

The above warning light ( orange bottom right ) is now a permanent fixture in the wiggz mobile. Also my car sounds like a scoobie but has the preformance of a scooter.
So anyway, my friend says this will most likely be my cat, and the fact that its fucked... So a new cat is in order or a de-cat :)
Can you technical minded geezers out there tell me any different? Also anyone got a rough idea on how much this is going to cost me...?
Spankyou in advanced.

fudged cat would increse performance. it sounds like there a hole somewhere though, causing lack of back pressure

i was under the impression that if the cat had rotted from the inside all the crap would block the airflow and therefore make you loose power?

if its got to that stage yes, but pretty sure you would have noticed before it got that bad. I'm going with a hole in the exhaust, either in the cat or before it

i had a powerflow cat back system fitted just last week, i canthelp but think they have something to do with this

i had this fault the other week and assumed it was due to my sports cat.

took the car down to my local renault specialist who performed a CLiP test and it was diagnosed as a miss-fire (caused by a knackered spark-plug)

shoved a new set of plugs in, and then resetted the ecu and its as good as new :)

spark plugs ;)

go get it CLiP'd to diagnose the fault. if its mechanically standard and within warranty its covered FOC. otherwise it'll be 70ish from renault, or 25 from independent garage.
